TAEU participated in the protest against cuts in EPF/ETF

TAEU members participated the protest organized by the movement of organizations called UNITE on 28 August at 12.00 noon in Colombo in front of Fort Railway station, on behalf of FUTA. The objective of this protest is to show the opposition of trade unions, other organizations, political parties, and the public to the loss of superannuation funds for the formal sector workers as a consequence of the domestic debt restructuring.

Lunch Time Protest Against Unjustifiable Taxation and Brain Drain

Teachers’ Association of Eastern University (TAEU) staged a lunch time protest on 22^nd September 2023 in front of Eastern University against unjustifiable tax imposed by government and brain drain of university academic and other professionals caused by unjustifiable taxation, unbearable cost of living. TAEU also expressed its dissatisfaction over the recent act of government to loot the EPF/ETF servings of workers in the guise of domestic debt restricting. During the protest, the TAEU issued handbills to make awareness among the general public.

Annual General Meeting of Teachers’ Association of Eastern University - 2023

The Annual General Meeting of TAEU was held on June 21, 2023, at Nalaiah Auditorium of EUSL with the participation of hundred and seventy-six members. Dr. T. Sathaananthan president for the period of 2022/2023 gave presidential address. Mr M.Ravi, secretary presented the Annual Report and Minutes of the former AGM. Mr. K. Ravichandran, Treasurer presented the financial report. The second volume of TAEU magazine “Voice of East” was launched by Editor Mr S.Santharooban. Dr. T.Geretharan delivered the book review for the magazine. New office bearers and committee members were selected. Prof. J. Kennedy was selected as the new president and Mr S.Santharooban was elected as new secretary for the period of 2023/2024.
